The Covid Wagon Expedition

About our Oregon Trail Journey

Hello from the Covid Wagon Crew! Since the novel Coronavirus swept the nation and world, our plans and ways of living dramatically changed. Unavoidably, summer internships, travel plans, and jobs were canceled.
Seeking some way to salvage the opportune summer months, rising college Sophomores Reed, Sam, and Ben began brainstorming ideas while finishing the academic year. The ideas we formulated seemed much more like dreams than reality. As we continued to consider the trip, it seemed that this time in quarantine might be the perfect opportunity to pursue a trip. After consulting parents and siblings and meeting among ourselves we formulated an idea: following the Oregon Trail into the Northwestern United States.

Segment one - Days 0 - 15

On June 8th, our crew of three hit the road in an extended transit van, our Conestoga covered wagon (also known as our Coronastoga Covid wagon!). While we kept a loose itinerary, our trip was ambitious, involving several national parks and driving almost 2,500 miles.

Segment Two - Days 16 - 20

After finishing the Oregon Trail in Oregon City, Oregon, we began a new way of living. Sam and Ben flew home to tend to other commitments, and George and Kendall Milnor, Reed’s dad and sister, flew in to join Reed on the second leg of the journey: the Pacific Northwest.

The third leg of the journey fulfilled a much-anticipated father-son experience. Evan, George, and Reed completed the rest of the itinerary, enjoying the beauty of Glacier National Park and the journey home, The Finale.
